Evidence and Records
The Evidence Custodian is responsible for logging in and maintaining evidence as it pertains to the prosecution of crimes. The responsibilities of the custodian include ensuring that evidence is delivered to the appropriate testing facility and placed back into evidence to be presented to the courts. Additionally, they compose motions and orders presented to the district attorney’s office and the court for the disposal or release of evidence once it is no longer needed in any legal proceeding.
The Records Custodian is responsible for the safe keeping of all records to include but not limited to case reports, accident reports, and offense reports. The custodian also coordinates with the Secretary of State’s Office for the destruction or archiving of outdated files.
